The incident took place on Wednesday, May 8, when the officers responded to a call for an unresponsive person, said New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski.
Responding officers arrived less than three minutes after being dispatched and provided urgent medical treatment including administering Narcan and performing CPR, Krolikowski said.
"As a result of the expert lifesaving care provided by the responding officers, the person started breathing, regained consciousness, and was transported to the hospital by the New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps," the Chief said.
The officers who handled this incident will soon receive the department’s Medical Lifesaving Award, Krolikowski added.
"Thanks to their training, professionalism and expert care they saved a life," Krolikowski said. "We are proud of how these officers embody our mission which is 'To Protect and Serve the community with courage, professionalism, and integrity.”'
The chief also thanked Silver Hills Hospital for funding the Narcan program and training, which he said has saved several lives.
